Garlic

An aromatic herb popular for cooking with excellent health benefits.

Garlic grows as a flowering perennial plant forming a bulb below the ground. The bulb is comprised of 6-12 individual cloves, each of which would be able to grow another plant the following year.

The garlic glove itself is generally an off-white colour, and the outer sheathing will change colour dramatically from pure white to red/purple depending on the minerals in the soil.

When cooking with garlic that is very fresh, it will react with acidic ingredients and can turn blue/green - this is completely normal!
